Gator in my Backyard

Today I got an unexpected visitor.  He came from the lake in the back and was rested in one of my flower beds.  And just this morning, I was outside watering my plants.  Perhaps he was already in the flower bed or came after I got inside the house.

The Police was immediately called by one of the neighbors and you can imagine my surprise when I got home few minutes later after he was spotted.  A trapper was called to remove it as you can see.  His length was 5.8 feet long.

In this picture you can see the Trapper trying to mobilize the gator.  He was in the adjacent bushes right in front of the screen room (my house) located behind.

    • Well my dear, this is a fact of life in Florida. However, this is the first time that an alligator took refuge in my yard and so close to where I spend a great deal of time taking pictures of hummers, butterflies and more… Snakes more often, but lately very seldom. The lake behind hosts 3 gators according to the neighborhood daily news and our association is aware of the danger and is slow taking action. I could have been the lucky one and not the neighborhood dogs. Now I need 8 eyes while I can’t stop my routine. Photography is too important. But I am not complaining. Like they say, this is life in a big city. Thank you and have a nice week end.
